The plane of Arkadia (the name of Kyparissia in the years of Ottoman rule) stands near the entrance to the castle. Of all the historic trees in the Morias, this is the most sung-about.
It is the subject of the folk song The Plane of Arkadia, which tells the tragic story of Eleni Chameri and her betrothed, Avgerinos Houndras, who were put to death after the beautiful young girl refused to marry the local Ottoman ruler, the Aga of Arkadia.
